Janie completed her BA in Bible from Multnomah University in 2014, after living 12 years overseas. She is now completing her Masters in Counseling-integrating mental health and the Christian faith--at Western Seminary in Portland, OR. She is an intern at ANLCC under the supervision of Brad Peterson, LMHC.
Janie has pastorally counseled and had a heart for teens and young adults the past 12 years, as well as women/Moms for the past 25 years. Before this, she spent over 12 years overseas, experiencing a variety of cultures, and developing a heart to work with people in pastoral ministry or overseas-related fields.
Having processed her own journey of hardships, Janie recognizes that people in church and ministry are still normal people. While they have chosen to trust and follow Christ, they can still find family, circumstances, or other relationships difficult, and thus need to process with someone in a safe, non-judgmental setting. Janie has a heart for people experiencing depression anxiety, loss and trauma, or those who have experienced abuse--including childhood neglect. She has completed training using the study, "Mending the Soul" and has also been an advisor to students processing career or dating decisions. She utilizes an integration of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Narrative, Solution-Focused, and Strengths-Based Therapies, along with a further integration of Christian faith.
