Grief Experience

Happily married and done raising and graduating 4 children from Bible college, tragedy struck the Tatlock household on July 21, 1997 when Larry Tatlock was killed in a car accident. Instead of entering into her prime years together with her college sweetheart and husband in ministry and grand-parenting as empty-nesters, Diana was suddenly left widowed and completely unprepared for the next season of life.

Only five months later, she suffered the unexpected loss of her mother, due to a heart attack, and then within three years of her husband's and mother's passing, she lost her father. Upon encouragement from her daughter to begin facing and processing her grief, she attended her first GriefShare group in Portland, OR.

Counseling Approach

Diana participated in the GriefShare program twice herself, before beginning to co-facilitate and lead them for others going through similar pathways of grief and loss. She has either led or co-led 1-2 groups a year for the past 19 years, and counting. She has met individually with many who have needed and wanted additional support, and provides all those with whom she serves caring and compassionate counsel.

Diana has also served at Grace Chapel, in Wilsonville, OR as a Care Connections Specialist, receiving a certificate of training in lay-counseling from the American Association of Christian Counseling (AACC), and walking alongside a variety of individuals with various levels of need.

She is excited to be a part of A New Life Christian Counseling, where she is available to meet individually (or with any remaining family members or loved ones) in order to walk humbly alongside them in any stage of their process of dealing with grief and loss. Those she works with will be blessed by her lifelong faith in Christ, as well as decades of experience helping others through their grief journey.
