Counseling Approach

My counseling approach is rooted in the principles of empathy and person-centered care, where I believe in fostering a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. With the key being that the client knows how to solve their own problems.

In our sessions, I will operate as a supportive guide, much like a trail guide on a hike, allowing you to take the lead in your exploration of thoughts, feelings, and experiences. By combining narrative and cognitive approaches, I empower individuals to navigate their unique paths, encouraging them to share their stories and explore the ways in which their thoughts shape their reality.

I understand that every individual's journey is distinct so we will work collaboratively towards understanding, growth, and positive change that you seek. I am here to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can freely express yourself and embark on a journey towards a more holistic life.

During my internship, I had the privilege of working with individuals navigating a range of challenges, including processing grief, managing partnership disputes, addressing trauma and abuse, as well as dealing with anxiety and depression. While I have a particular focus on men's issues, I also harbor a profound understanding and empathy for women who have experienced trust issues in their relationships with men. My diverse experiences have equipped me with a comprehensive perspective, allowing me to approach each client's unique circumstances with sensitivity and a commitment to fostering healing and growth.

Ministry Experience

Embarking on my journey in ministry later than many, I found my true calling during my junior year of Bible college. It was during this pivotal time that I embraced the call and cultivated a profound desire to engage in work with individuals. Over the course of my last two years in college, I assumed a leadership role as the head of a male dormitory, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for the residents. This hands-on experience allowed me to blend my passion for ministry with a keen understanding of the diverse challenges people face. Today, I draw upon these rich experiences to guide and uplift individuals on their paths towards spiritual and emotional well-being.

Now I currently help on the youth leadership team at my local church. Serving the youth and other leaders by supporting the youth pastor in the mission for our local church. This means attending Wednesday services and being a small group leader for the high school students.

Personal Life

I thoroughly enjoy everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I hike, camp, road trip, explore all the different corners of the PNW as well as other areas of the country. I have visited 30 National parks, including four last year with my wife (Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Denali, and Kenai Fjords). There are few people who enjoy the open road seeking adventure more than I do.
