about Ashley
My As a counselor-in-training at George Fox University, I’m passionate about creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. Rooted in a person-centered approach, I meet people where they are—with empathy, compassion, and a genuine curiosity about their story.
My love for mental health comes from a lifelong understanding that life is both beautiful and challenging. We all go through seasons when support makes a difference, and I consider it an honor to walk alongside people during those times.
I draw from evidence-based practices like CBT, attachment theory, and narrative therapy to help clients create meaningful, lasting change. I also incorporate mindfulness, insight, and accountability through a restorative lens—helping individuals build on strengths and move forward with clarity and confidence.
With children, I integrate play therapy and bibliotherapy to support emotional growth in fun, age-appropriate ways. I believe healing isn’t just about addressing pain but also about nurturing potential. My goal is to provide a space where clients feel safe to be honest, brave enough to grow, and empowered to find what works for them.
Counseling Experience
Professionally, I’ve served as a Mental Health Specialist in a child and adolescent psychiatric unit, supporting youth in crisis through trauma-informed care and suicide prevention strategies. I also worked as a Therapeutic Educational Assistant at a therapeutic school, using collaborative problem solving to help students develop coping skills, improve communication, and build trust.
Beyond clinical work, I served as a Resource Coordinator at Love in the Name of Christ, supporting families through crisis with presence and practical care. I’ve also co-taught Circle of Security parenting classes, helping caregivers strengthen attachment and foster emotionally secure relationships.
Across every role, my focus has remained the same: showing up with empathy, building trust, and helping others find hope and healing.:
